Our Amazing Grasslands Video - October 2024

NOLOSD

The latest "Our Amazing Grasslands" video highlights the vital role beavers play in restoring stream systems across Western South Dakota. Due to broken hydrology and land management challenges, many woody species are struggling. Beavers help by building dams that slow water flow, promote tree regeneration, and enhance stream sustainability. Through projects like Beaver Dam Analogs, ranchers like Pat Guptill have seen dramatic improvements in water retention, soil health, and flood prevention, showcasing the long-term benefits of reintroducing beavers to grassland ecosystems.
